Design mode inaccessible after snapshot import

    Hi

I've had this problem before, but seem to have lost my notes on it.

I have received a snapshot back from a client, and am unable to get design mode switched back on for me to work on the site. (Design mode was off when I deployed the snapshot to the client, it was an old-style v8 'export snapshot', not a new-fangled 'deploy site snapshot'!).

If I remember correctly, the trick is to change a setting in an .ini file somewhere, but where...?

    Many thanks, Dan

Is 'design options' ticked in business settings\options?

Dan - did you find out how to solve this - I have a similar problem at the moment.

Hi Kathy, no I still haven't solved this.

I'm sure that there was a post from Chris D or someone of similar stature, which explained how to find an entry in (I think) an .ini file, and change the value to allow design mode again.

I have searched and searched and not found it, so whether it's been removed or not I don't know.

          Sorry.

Memory jogged: It's a registry setting

###DISCLAIMER: THIS WORKS FOR ME, BUT REGISTRY EDITING IS DODGY, SO TAKE CARE###

Shut down Actinic first (just in case)

            Run Regedit

            HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
            SOFTWARE
            Actinic
            Catalog8
            Sites
            [sitename]
5th entry down is DesignChanges - which needs to Y for Design mode

Then you can go into Actinic, to Settings | Business Settings and tick Design Changes, and you're back!
