10% Handling Charge and Site Review

Is it possible for me to add a 10% handling charge to the overall product price ( ie the total products in the shopping basket )and NOT the shipping price?

Would also welcome any comments on http://www.yarmouthsweets.co.uk

Pictures are yet to be put on there OK.....

10% handling charge on all products? if so just up the prices by 10% and be done with the idea, handling charges were maybe in vogue in 1990, nowadays they are a real turn off IMO.

That wallpaper background looks wrong to me. It makes me think you're running the shop from someone's front room.

Well the idea behind that was in fact that they wanted an old fashioned shop background. It was a Victorian Theme, as per thr brief, but was told it looked too " Old Fashioned" ....must have been the Victorian bit of the brief that did that.

I'm glad it says "front Room" to you, as thats exactly what he wants, a familiar, homely, traditional sweet shop.

Customer doesn't want to up his prices by 10% but still wants an additional 10% added on for handling.

Tell him you need another £500 to upgrade him to Business then, that'll soon change his mind.

If only it were that simple Lee, this is one of those " sticky" customers......

I'm taking it from that then that its more trouble to set up than its worth?

If you cannot achieve what you want here on the details tab of a product, i personally cannot see how you can do this without the ability to set discounts and surcharges. What does the handling supplement do if you set per product then?

OK im lost, so he wants to add 10% but does not want to put the sweets up by 10%? well cant you get rid of the vat, well change it to a 10% and rename it, show the prices online without vat then when you buy them it adds the 10% on

Or just add the handling charge

S'ok Lee, talked him into a flat 10% addition to his postal charges and do it that way.

His postage is all calculated by value anyways, so its a lot easier that way. He was just adamant about a handling charge.

Probably read about one in a book somewhere and decided he wanted one....

                  Thanks for the help anyways.....

Presumably he doesn't care about pissing of potential customers. Customers see a price and and quite rightly assume that is the selling price. Most people then checkout the delivery costs, but do not expect to get hit with a 10% surcharge. It would hack me off and lose the site the sales - still i suppose he knows what he is doing...

He bowed to experience, told him he'd lose more customers if he was adamant about this and he relented to my suggestion of just adding a 10% to his existing shipping costs.

                      Clients.... "bless 'em"
