Merging Sites - Import Orders

Hi

Having successfully upgraded our first site to V8 from v7, we merged the contents of our second v7 store so that we now just run the one combined v8 store, (now running live).

However, we have some old completed orders in that second v7 store that I am trying to import into v8. But when I use the import facility from the old v7 database it imports those orders, but deletes all the pre-existing orders in v8. (I had to restore from backup.) I thought that it was supposed to merge the imported orders?

Am I doing something wrong, or if not, then how do I get those old orders into our v8 store without losing the current order history?

I dont think so - it just overwites the current orders. This has been discussed before in the early days of v8

OK, so is there any way I can get these orders into the new site?

Jans the expert on this subject so she may be able to give a better answer but I seem to remember from past conversations on the subject that its not possible but Im sure she will have the correct answer.

Import orders will replace and not append. I also fell foul of this as I kindof was assuming a nice append feature.

OK, thanks for the info. It looks like there is no way to do it at present unless I enter the orders manually, then edit the database directly to change the order nos, dates, etc. (If I can summon up the courage!)

lol..it's not so bad really

it more depends on how many orders you're talking about doing and the time it might take
