Best Sellers Question

I am using the Executive Layout and have my best sellers on the left side underneath the nav options.

Is there any way I can remove the description associated with the product.?Some of my descriptions are quite long and are spoiling the look on certain pages.

Go to Design | Library | Layouts. Look for the nav bar best sellers layout and comment out the product description or remove it.

Commenting out would be the clever way to go about it.

You could also try moving the best sellers list from the nav bar to the main content area and use the mini best sellers layout. IMH this looks better than the nav bar layouts.

In most cases I think the short description is sufficient and remove the full description completely

Agreed. And then you ensure that the short description & image also act as links to the product. Not just the "find out more" which is insufficient IMO (<-- Got it right this time!)

Sorry Chris, I just stated that as I was on the run and didn't have a chance to look up the correct name.

Design | Library | Layouts
Best Sellers List | Sidebar Best Sellers List

Open up the one you are using to see which Best Sellers List Item layout it uses. Open the relevant layout and comment out the code that calls the full description.

Many thanks. I thought I could then work out what I was doing but I am lost

My homepage best seller list currently looks like this http://www.dfordog.com/shop.html i.e. with all those horrible long descriptions. That is what I want to get rid of. I am not worried about shorter descriptions showing or anything compliacted that I have read on other threads. I literally just want to get rid of the very long product description bits.

Just select it on the design tab, it's easier. Once on the design tab, just click on a best seller, code will show in the bottom window.

Yes, I usually do things in the design tab.

So it looks like this:



Now in the past I would have been all gun ho (and stupid) and removed the bit of text that is greyed out i.e. ProductDescription. But that is wrong isn't it. What should I be doing next please?
