Error with new trial install, program doesn't start

Just installed the 30 day trial from www.actinic.com (catalog.exe version is 8.5.1.1) to evaluate the software for a new website that I want to start. Client is running on XP Pro

When the program launches I get this error three times right after the splash screen loads.
The instruction reference memory that could not be read:

I rebooted after the install and received this error on startup:
Init failed, reason failed to create program log C5670601

I ran actdiagnose.exe and this was it's output:

    Hi Darian

Sorry you've had trouble installing Actinic. I must admit, I've not heard of an installation problem like this for a while.

I'd suggest downloading another copy of v8 - just to make sure that the download has happened correctly. Go to http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/downloads.htm and click the link where it says '30 Day Trial Software'. Although it's the Actinic UK site, you'll see a link to download the US software (once you've registered).

If you still get the error, I suggest you try it on a different machine (if you have one) to see whether the problem is a conflict on your machine.

      Hi Chris
I see your latest post is timed at 10:42.
      But it's only 09:49 now ....

I knew you operated on a higher level to the rest of us, but I didn't realise you were in a different time zone as well
      Kind Regards

post is timed 9.42 here, Sean...you been drinking?

more likely, you looked at it before you logged in?
The forum is on BST but it time changes (to the correct time) when you log in!

          As it is here now...

That's really weird - I was (and always do) logged in.

I did have a smoothie for breakfast, but it hasn't distorted my space-time continuum before.
Perhaps it was the pineapple from T**co?

Think I'll have a lie down.
          Kind Regards

*places an online order for delivery of a box of pineapples*
