    Problem on delivery cost

Hi. For some product as billard tables delivery is free of charge. I created a shipping category "free" and associated a zone/class charges for "free" equal zero euros for France. So if a client ordered this product, it works perfectly : delivery is free.
But if, in the same time the client ordered another product, for example a billard cue, for which delivery is not FOC (shipping category is "standard" for this product), then client must pay the transport, at the price define in the zone/classe "standard".
Is there a way to resolve this ?
    Thanks

    Didier,

The best way to do this is to set shipping by weight and to use the weight as a variable that defines the shipping cost.

This way you can set the shipping table so that items that weigh 0.1kg are free but anything else in the cart will override that and use the normal shipping charge.

Thanks Mike. I'm not sure to understand exactly what you mean : "anything else in the cart will override that and use the normal shipping charge." means that if client adds something more in the basket he must pay for this : I need that he doesn't pay anything if he adds something in the basket on which there is a product with free delivery.
In your proposition must I set all the products with shipping by weight ? In this case, i have probably to give a weight different from zero to all product except billard tables : long job to change all the products !

        Hi Didier,

Sorry, I must have mis-read your post and confused it with this one. http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=33683

To make the FOC delivery apply no matter what else is added then you do the inverse to what I said earlier. i.e. make the FOC delivery item weight 1000Kg (for example) and set the table with free delivery for anything over 999Kg.

The person in the other thread was complaining that the shipping was operating the way you want it to work but they didn't say how they had set it up. Maybe you should PM them and ask how they had been doing it.

        Mike

PS. I couldn't see what you're basing your delivery charges on, but if most items have the same delivery cost then you just let them use the default weight. That way you only have to enter weights for the non-standard items.

Thanks Mike. I will try to contact Elaine from the other thread.
It seems difficult for me to use weight to calculate transport cost (Xmas is near and I don't want to take risk by changing all the cost for shipping during this period).
To answer your question I use 3 shipping categories :"Standard" for most of the products, "Billard" for all billard tables with slate and "Free" for little billard tables (350 to 700 euros). A lot of products are delivered by post (2 modes : normal and quicker) and each of these are defined, based on value (cost transport between 10 and 45 euros). Billard are delivered by road transport. So I created a table "road transport" based on category : for "Free" category, cost is 0, for "billard" category cost is 150 euros, and for "standard" cost is 80 euros ( I need a value <> 0 for this, if not client choose this possibility for standard product.
So now if a client buy a billard table at 350 euros, he is in the "free" category and does not pay transport but if he add a cue, which is in the "standard" category he must pay the price defined on the "road transport" category.
What I would like to get is : if a product is free shipping on the order, so all the order is free shipping !
Try to be as clear as possible, not easy !

So seems to have no solution to my problem. I can't use weight to fix the transport cost as this cost depends of the basket value. So I must keep this way of working.
But I also need to give the possibility, when somebody ordered a free shipping product, to keep the free shipping for all the others products he can buy on the same basket !
