    Export Problem

    Hi,

Something has gone wrong with my mew v8 site and i would like to reinstall actinic and reimport my database:

Will a snapshot save everything, or just the product database?

I have tried to export and then import a csv file but is says there is a syntax error in the header???

    Any thoughts?

A snapshot will save everything pertinent to run the site and is the best way to reinstate a site.

But if there is a problem with my layout code will this also be saved in the snapshot?

Yes it will include any problems you have as well.

Your best bet is perhaps to export your site structure and products etc. (hierarchical export) as well as a snapshot.

You can then safely reinstall Actinic (the same version). You will then have a default site and should be able to import your earlier export. Even if that fails you should still at least be able to get back to the state you are now by importing the snapshot.

Prior to reinstalling you could also separately back up any layouts (to text file) or external designs you may have. You could then only reinstate the parts tof the layout that you want.

Yes - the layouts (other than the outer external) are kept in the database.. so you need to reinstate a snapshot from before the corruption.

If it is the layout you have killed you can go into the Library, right click the necessary layout and select "revert to factory"

I have tried to export my database to a csv file but when i try and import it is says :

There is a syntax error in the Header directive at line 1. The error reported is: Invalid record name.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
