    User input for a permutation/choice?

I'll admit straight off that I'm not the most advanced Actinic user!

Anyway, my query is - Can a choice within a component have a user input box? Basically what I'm trying to do is allow a user to enter what printing they would like on their football shirt. The permutations are all linked to a product, which were previously held in their own section. When the shirt printing was puchased through this section they were then asked on the cart page to input what name and number they would like, but this doesn't happen now that it they have been merged into another product.

Any help appreciated (if anyone understands what I mean)!

Look on the 'prompts' tab on a product.

How would I then make the prompt optional depending on whether the user chose printing or not? Adding that prompt would then mean anyone buying just a shirt would be required to enter what name/numbe they would like on their shirt..

You'd need to use Javascript if you wanted to do that. Alternatively products can de advertised as 'plain' or 'printed', thus meaning anyone selecting 'printed' would always be inputting something.

For the record, I needed to do this and the theory above works. Here's an article from the knowledgebase on how to do the last bit, making the prompt box optional...
