    Save Shop to CD?

    Hi,

Before moving to Actinic, my previous shopping cart software had the option to save the whole shop to CD which we found useful to give to customers who did not have broadband access. Does anyone know of a way of doing this with Actinic?

    Thanks

    Paul

One of the options is to use WinHTTrack to copy the website - you can then view it offline.

I have just used the Httrack, took some hours to download the shop as it was 295MB but it appears to be working. A few times I found I was browsing the net rather than the hard drive but maybe that is because of the PC cache. Needs tweaking to get the home page to display rather than the shop page but looks good.

                    trust me try

                    http://www.tenmax.com/teleport/pro/home.htm

doesnt take hours to grab site

can grab images only or text
                    or whole site

                    * Download all or part of a website to your computer, enabling you to browse the site directly from your hard disk at much greater speeds than if you were to browse the site online
                    * Create an exact duplicate, or mirror of a website, complete with subdirectory structure and all required files
                    * Search a website for files of a certain type and size
                    * Download a list of files at known addresses
                    * Explore every website linked from a central website
                    * Search a website for keywords
                    * Make a list of all pages and files on a website

That sounds great, can someone let us know what one is best and as Im no techy what is easy to use.

Do either of them allow items to be added to basket so as a customer with a disc could either email basket to us or print it and fax over?

I have approx 750mb of info over 13000 items on one site, any ideas how long with each program to download?

HTTrack will not allow adding to cart and I doubt Teleport will either as cgi scripting is required. HTTrack does however resolve cgi links and saves them as standard pages - I would guess teleport does the same.

wow..I just downloaded Teleport Pro and I'm very impressed!
It wouldn't download the full site because it only takes 500 files in trial mode but it's really easy to use and I can see that it'd work well putting the website onto a CD!

If you're browsing offline and click "add to cart" on a product, it opens the website (online) and adds to cart (landing you on the add to cart confirmation page) which is nifty too.

I can see this program being really useful for putting Jesters onto a CD!!
                              Thanks Gareth, nice one
