    Remove copy_of_XYZ.html Default

    Good Afternoon,

Over the past year we have done alot of new work to our site, including integrating a whole new Actinic theme, and turning our half-ftp half-actinic controlled site into a fully integrated Actinic site. Most problems have been relatively easily sorted through our server company - Teclan - giving advice and recommendations. However, there is still one problem that persists.

When moving a product up/down a list - for instance, if 'Acacia.html' was accidentally put below 'Aluminium.html' - logically alphabetically it should be the other way around - so Actinic will alter the url to "copy_of_Acacia.html". I wondered - is there any way to remove this default action by Actinic. As we are forever finding broken links - from other sites - on our site in Google's WebMaster Tools.

Can anyone offer any advice on removing these 'copy_of' url's and the permanent disablement of this feature of Actinic?

    Regards,
    Grant

that seems like strange behaviour to me (although maybe I've just misinterpretted what you're saying)

Are you saying that moving an original from one position to another is changing it to "copy_of"? or just creating it below the "Aluminium" section is doing it?

Doesn't seem like Actinic behaviour to me. I thought Actinic created a "Copy_of" pagename is if you directly copy and paste (as opposed to moving, which is cut and paste) a section, so duplicating it.

    Perhaps I've misunderstood you?

      Hello.

      Thanks for your reply.

Hopefully this is a bit more helpful to you.

      For example,

      Under Alexander Rose garden furniture,

      Acacia 1.3m round table
      Mahogany recliner chair
      Iroko 1.6m round table

If we decide both tables should be beside each other, I simply click and drag one product up/down a space so that it appears in the correct order both in Actinic and in that product category page. However, the name will amend itself to copy_of_iroko.html etc.

I am looking for a way to override this so that - although no duplicate page does exist - Actinic will stop creating 'copy_of_' pages.

Hopefully that is a little more comprehensible.

      Thank you

Are you sure? sounds like you are either going mad or copy pasting to me.

Lost me as well - this is not what normally happens in Actinic. The only reason it may happen is if you created all your original products from one master product in a section but even then dragging and dropping would not cause a name changes.

Screen grab of your content tree may help?
