    Populating Actinic With Products

    Hello,

Is there a quick way to add products, or make changes to existing products by using a spreadsheet or something similar? I've got nearly 5000 products on so far by doing it the slow way so I'm looking for some kind of shortcut because I've got thousands of things yet to add.

    Thanks,

    Jonathan

You can import product data. Look in the program help file for 'import'.

      As Duncan says

Building a database can take two forms, a flat file or hierachy files.

Export some sample data and have a looksie inside....it ain't that bad honest.

hi ive struggled with this for ages

but i never realised till recently you can map a field to multiple fields

so field 1 can be section description and product description all at the same time
Remembering the road to Actinic enlightenment is a long and sometimes painful one.

In your Site folder is a sub-folder "Common". In that, there are example import files. The simplest is "SampleFlatImportFile.csv". This should open in Excel and is quite easy to follow.

I always forget they are there Norman

One word of advice to any 'newbie' using the flat file. Remember your secton text is created using the | symbol WITHOUT spaces.

              ie
SECTION | SECTION is different to SECTION|SECTION

You would not want to know the hours I spent figuring that out when I started out.....
