    Confused over columns

    Hi all,

This is probably the most basic of questions but a trawl of the Advanced guide and this forum has not shed any light on my query.

We are ex-squaddies running a shop for squaddies and with the large contingent of lads posted overseas we now need a web presence. I have been nominated "IT specialist" (last man in line to step back!!!) after we were stitched up by a web designer we employed and have managed to get this far with our site but am now flummoxed.

    http://www.jayjaysbrecon.co.uk/

I cannot seem to make the column containing the text (site under construction, etc) wider to occupy the white space on the extreme right of the page. I found the tech_page_content and can widen the whole page but cannot see an option for the central column.

Also, when viewed on our desktop the web page looks fine but on my laptop the logo and text disappear to a level beneath the left hand menu column.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated as would feedback on the general look of our site so far.

    Thanks

    Karl

Try site options | general | main body width

If that fails then there is a thread somewhere with exact instructions on how to make the theme you are using fluid.

Hope you are selling better kit than we had when I was in.

Please have a look at the site - despite the fact that we are undeniably the finest trained military force in the world, issue kit is still in the stone age. We supply basics and gucci kit but primarily our aim is to make sure that lads do not pay more than they have to to get the kit that works on the front line.

We have been there, seen it & worn the T-shirts so hopefully others benefit from our mistakes.

We have kept the layout as simple as possible since download speeds in Basra or Helmand ain't exactly 8Meg broadband

Thanks for the suggestion Malcolm, sadly it didn't work so unless someone can offer an alternative I guess I am going to have to come to grips with this 'floating' thing - oh boy ! ! !

The theme you have selected is a bit of a pain in the arse to mod TBH. Send me a snapshot and I will hae a look for you.

Its always has been and always will be IMO - the MOD is ripped off by every low bid contractor it takes on.
