    Intermitent Shopping Cart Problem

    Hi,

    I've got a client who keeps recieving compaints from their customers saying that their site is not working. The most common complaint is that the shopping cart won't update when they add a product.

    Of course, everytime I try it, it works fine. Speaking to someone who has experienced it, the problem seems to come and go as opposed to being specific to one platform/browser. Can anyone shed any light on what might be causing this problem or suggest what I might do to imprive the situation.

    Here's the url: http://www.hogsback.co.uk

    Any light anyone can shed on this would be most helpful.

    Cheers,
    Dave

    It could well be to do with confusion over www. and non-www. links.

    It works fine for me on the www url but when I went and checked on http://hogsback.co.uk then I get an 'Access Denied' error when I try to add to cart which is none too friendly.

      I got a cookie error (as mentioned in an IE6 thread yesterday) when I tried adding to cart using IE6, even though my security settings/cookies etc are all set as "normal"
      Worth looking at the thread started by Party Pete yesterday about the cart and IE6.

        budgetbumps, thanks, I'll check out the thread now.

        Cheers guys.

        The problem also occurs in ie7 and when visited via www.etc..., anyone got any other suggestions as to the casue?

          Ok. you've got a few things going on there. A quick look at your error file has some of these in it:

          Program = SHOPCART, Program version = 313 , HTTP Server = Zeus/4.3 , Return code = 999 , Date and Time = 2007/11/27 09:38, Internal Errors = Error opening ../acatalog/62Z31Z145Z9A1196155871B15251.session (Permission denied)
          Program = SHOPCART, Program version = 313 , HTTP Server = Zeus/4.3 , Return code = 999 , Date and Time = 2007/11/27 09:38, Internal Errors = Error opening ../acatalog/62Z31Z145Z9A1196155871B15251.session (Permission denied)
          and this doesn't look to healthy:

          Program = SHOPCART, Program version = 313 , HTTP Server = Zeus/4.3 , Return code = 999 , Date and Time = 2007/11/22 08:21, Internal Errors = Error opening ../acatalog/87Z106Z130Z22A1195719659B7220.session (Disk quota exceeded)
          Program = ORDERSCR, Program version = 507 , HTTP Server = Zeus/4.3 , Return code = 999 , Date and Time = 2007/11/22 08:21, Internal Errors = Error opening ../acatalog/87Z106Z130Z22A1195719660B7225.session (Disk quota exceeded)
          Program = SearchSc, Program version = 115 , HTTP Server = Zeus/4.3 , Return code = 999 , Date and Time = 2007/11/22 08:21, Internal Errors = Error opening ../acatalog/87Z106Z130Z22A1195719661B7229.session (Disk quota exceeded)
          Program = SearchSc, Program version = 115 , HTTP Server = Zeus/4.3 , Return code = 999 , Date and Time = 2007/11/22 08:21, Internal Errors = Error opening ../acatalog/87Z106Z130Z22A1195719661B7235.session (Disk quota exceeded)
          Program = SHOPCART, Program version = 313 , HTTP Server = Zeus/4.3 , Return code = 999 , Date and Time = 2007/11/22 09:39, Internal Errors = Error opening ../acatalog/84Z67Z140Z158A1195724394B20971.session (Disk quota exceeded)
          Program = SHOPCART, Program version = 313 , HTTP Server = Zeus/4.3 , Return code = 999 , Date and Time = 2007/11/22 09:42, Internal Errors = Error opening ../acatalog/86Z132Z111Z23A1195724539B9676.session (Disk quota exceeded)
          So check your disk quota with your host.

          Also you have no index file in your acatalog directory (and no re-direct to your default) which leaves this open http://www.hogsback.co.uk/acatalog/

            Wow, there's an error log. That'll come in handy :-)

            Cheers Mike, I'll check the disk quota with the hosting company.

            And thanks for the heads up on the missing index page.

            Thanks for your help.
