I think Duncan's point was that the DefaultQuantity entry in the quantity box can't be changed to 0 by changing the minimum qty orderable to 0 because you can't.

    ermmm..I know what I mean!

But can't you just replace the "DefaultQuantity" variable with 0 in the layout?
I think this is the most logical soution - stick a blockif around it with a product scoped variable and job done.

As Lee says you don't want to order 0 surely.

Why does DJ want to do this anyway?

can't be that uncommon, I wouldn't have thought!

doesn't it work by removing the DefaultQuantity variable and substituting with 0 then?

But... if you set the shopping mode for the section to Single Add to Cart Button then the quantity is zero by default anyway.

indeed, but he now wants an add to cart after each item....

Just chatted with him and he changed his mind so back to SQ1

Add to cart from anywhere on the internet then - just in case.

so presumably it doesn't need to be zero now then?

at the risk of repeating myself (again ) and in the absence of a way to change the DefaultQuantity variable itself to zero, what's wrong with replacing the DefaultQuantity variable with a 0 digit instead in the layout?

                        DJ

I might be miles off here, but can you create a new product layout with the single add to cart button instead of the default add to cart

then you can have the qty at 0 and the single add to cart button with each product

or have i completely missed the point here
