Choices Out Of Stock

I have been trying to set up the ‘Choices Out Of Stock’ option on page 36 of the AUG and just thought I’d run what I’ve been up to with you lot as I can’t seem to get it to work.

First off I created a master product….lets say Fishing Hooks, then created individual hidden products for each size of the fishing hooks, Size 4, Size 5, Size 6….etc. See pic below.

I’ve populated the permutations list, set up stock control for each of the hidden products and worked my way through page 36 of the AUG. Double checked that I had done it right…..and it all looks fine from my end. I was after getting the ‘Out Of Stock’ text to appear at the end of the choices but this isn’t happening…..I’m just left with the choices still available and no ‘Out Of Stock’ prompt appearing

    Any help would be appreciated

are they unorderable when out of stock? have you checked that? ie...your product isn't set up so it could still be ordered even with 0 in stock, is it?

I've never used this "out of stock choices" thing so I'm just throwing out suggestions here

Do you have stock control disabled on the master product?
Is the hidden product itself showing an out of stock message if you unhide it?
Triple check that your component layout is using "Component With Selectable Permutations"

ermm..not sure what else to suggest really. It's a bit of a shot in the dark not being able to see what has actually been done (and not having used it myself as the component layout needed is no good to me most of the time)

When I set the stock levels to 0 for the hidden products they are still available.....the choices are still there but there's no 'Out Of Stock' text showing as described in the AUG

When stock control is enabled on the master product and I set the stock level to 0 the whole of the product is labeled as out of stock

Yes....if I unhide the hidden product they appear as above.

I have the the component layout set to 'Component Layout With Selectable Permutations'

      Permutation set to no layout

      Thank you for your time

ok, I've been having a play with this (had to satisfy my curiosity as to how it worked anyway)

I think the problem might be to do with your "warn below" and "suspend orders below" settings?

Out of curiosity, on the stock item you've got out of stock...what are your settings in the stock tab? (a screenshot might be best)

I've been messing with this and, in my business settings, my warn level and suspend level are set to 1 (so they are the default setting for each product) Yet, on an item with a stock level of 1, I AM getting an out of stock message and shouldn't be. (opposite problem to you )

I'm still fiddling though..and forum searching

Right, I think I've found a flaw in this AUG method

I've posted a thread about it HERE

basically, it's quite likely that it could be your warning and suspend levels on your associated product that are affecting the message.

What are your default levels, your levels as set at the product level and your stock level of the item you're trying to show out of stock?

At the moment I have the master product and all the hidden choices set to the above

ok, your master product needs stock control switched OFF which I believe is how you had it to begin with so I'm assuming that doesn't fix the problem?

If it's all set up properly, I can see why the 0,1,1 settings on the associated product wouldn't give an out of stock message for the choice, sorry.
I played with this for a while last night and, beyond the change I had to make to the method, it was working and should have at the levels you have set.

Can you paste your "Dropdown Permutation Entry" layout here?

Also, check the condition you created in Design / Layout (IsAssociatedProductInStock) and ensure your > is the right way round?

I'm running out of suggestions, sorry

Hi, yes you're right, that's how I originally had it set up....it doesn't fix the problem

The condition was copy and pasted straight from the AUG:

                    ((<actinic:variable name="AssociatedProduct::IsStockMonitored" /> == false) OR
                    (<actinic:variable name="AssociatedProduct::StockLevel" /> > <actinic:variable name="AssociatedProduct::StockSuspendLevel" />))

Is there anything you can see in the above that I might have done wrong?

Just a thought….after you have created the condition is it a case of either or for the ‘To make the out of stock option disappear’ or ‘To add an 'Out of Stock' note to the end of the item’ do you do both? Or just the one you prefer?

                        ok..still don't know, tbh

by "dropdown permutation entry" layout, I mean in your design tab.

More easily, go to Design > Layout > Permutation Row Layout

open "dropdown permutation entry" layout and copy and paste all of it's contents here inbetween
and
tags (without spaces)

it's just a last resort thing to check because I'm not sure what else could be wrong
