    Excel Spreadsheet In T&C's?

    Hi,
I want to incorporate an excel spreadsheet of my shipping charges into my terms and conditions but can't seem to find a 'relatively' simple way of doing it. I have Actinic v8 and wondered if there was a user-friendly way of achieving this without delving into too much design code etc.?

Any assistance would be very gratefully received...

Provide a screenshot of the table, sounds like it should be done in html not excel to be honest.

      Hi Lee,

Thanks - it hadn't occurred to me to do it that way. I take it it's relatively straightforward to embed an image into the T&C's using HTML then? I don't want to take up anyone's time with this if it's a fairly straightforward exercise - will I find it in AUG then?

      Thanks again...

Lets have a look at it and we can advise accordingly. HTML table or an image IMO, embedded excel a no-no for me. I don't think it's in the AUG, it's not that advanced to be honest.

          take a look at http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=30712
this was someone that wanted to put a table of data within a page,
theres some relatively simple code that will allow you to do something similiar to what you want to achieve

If you've got Dreamweaver then just cut and paste your Excel spreadsheet into the Design view and Dreamweaver will create the html table code for you automatically.

Or highlight the bit you want in excel and export as html (you get a lot of html but it does work). You can then just import the html file where you want it

                    Hi Lee,

Here's the image you requested. I reckon I could go down the dreamweaver route to scalp the html code or, i could maybe upload this image as an additional file and try to stick it into the T&C's that way with html? I'm sure I'll get round it somehow - don't like wasting anyone else's time...

                      Hi Stewart,

I don't know what you're selling, but in general the advice on shipping charges for consumers is to keep it simple for your customers. If you're charging according to your table then no-one will know how much the shipping charge will be until they checkout, which will frustrate many of them and probably lead to abandoned carts.

Most retailers will stick with as few shipping bands as possible.

Couldn't agree more - keep it as simple as possible. If it was me I'd just have three prices: UK 3.95; Europe 5.95 and Rest of World 9.95. Then adjust your prices to compensate if you want.

I'd third that Stewart, too complicated dude, just accept with shipping that you will win on some and lose on others, but it will even out over the year. If you find you are losing, just up the costs a bit. How is anyone going to know their weight to look up anyway? Think of your shoppers as the thickest people you have ever met IMO. Keep things as simple as possible.

                            Treat them like little children.

I had a professor send me an email just the other day complaining that each product did not have a stated weight so she could calculate the exact shipping cost based on our delivery charges while she looked at the site. After I explained all she had to do was add them to the cart and the website would do it for her she was over the moon at the wonders of the internet - I thought get a life
