    Opinion on site

Okay - I know that there are probably a few tweaks to be made but I would appreciate opinions on any aspects of this site:
    www.spcb.co.uk

We have just gone 'live' and hope to email all of our regular customers in the New Year with login details.

It is a very specialist area, dealing with major industry and manufacturing companies rather than 'joe public' and we have been trading for over 7 years, but this site will hopefully enable our customers to buy more products online as well as enabling our accounts department to process orders more quickly rather than manually inputting every order.

A few ideas. The jpg header stretched out of proportions. Colour behind links on the left menu?. Blue links, maybe dark green would suit better?. If you changed default buttons for images it'd look better. On product pages wasn't sure where products started and ended, maybe a separator?.

Thanks so much for the quick reply.
I will change all of those tomorrow - a 3rd party always picks up aesthetic details that are more obvious to new visitors rather than the person that has been working on the site for days and has become submerged in it!.

Also, on a SEO course some years ago, we were told to keep links as Royal Blue as that is what the visitor expects to see to recognise the text as links ...even if not visually pleasing?

        JavaScript error on the line

        <script>makeitso();</script>

as that routine isn't defined anywhere.

                Well spotted everyone.
The whole script was there originally in actinic extras js and I hadn't removed it manually. Somehow this file had been changed back to the original. Maybe I had set something back to default?
Anyway added the script again and it is now working as it should. I hadn't spotted the change!

When I trawl around your site (using FF2 and IE7 and IE6) and add a product to my basket, the value of this is displayed in the top right hand corner. The font size (or css setting depending on what you're using) however is way too large and it breaks the design.

Also, whilst I take your point about customers expecting to see links in royal blue (this is the 'default' standard for a browser to display a link in) I think that people nowadays are savvy enough to understand where menus are on a page (traditionally down the LHS as yours is) and these don't therefore *need* to be made as standardised blue links.
It might liven up the design a little if you made these a bit more interesting with some CSS hover effects?

                  Just my tuppence worth!

on the ContactUs page, you have the following with an underlined font - "We appreciate your feedback"
I was also taught, never ever use underlined if its not a link, it just makes your site confusing.
