    not recieving any mails

Hi is anyone else experiencing the same problem as me?

I am recieving payment confirmation from PROTX,
but not recieving an order confirmation.
I can download the order and everything is alright there.
Have have never changed any of my network setup from when it was working.
When I do a test it passes everything but I do not get the test emails back. I have tested the email that is setup and I can send emails to the address in outlook.

    very strange...

the "catalog order received" emails? or a copy of the actual customer order email?

who are you hosting with? I'm fairly sure several people have reported this lately. A forum search might pick up previous threads (although, admittedly, it's a rather broad search term)

I did a search and I could only find a handful and most of them were from people on the V6.

In fact its both "Catalog order recieved" and a copy of customer mail. In fact I have just noticed that I am not even recieving anything from the contact us forms! uh oh

also in my error.err file it comes with the error
      "Program = MailForm, Program version = 9 , HTTP Server = Zeus/4.2 , Return code = 999 , Date and Time = 2007/12/10 15:31, Internal Errors = Error opening configuration file ../../docroot/acatalog/prompt.fil. No such file or directory"

dont know if that has anything to do with it?

So there's the problem. You probably aren't sending out the emails.

This can be down to a few things, but the most likely one is that you aren't using the hosts smtp server.

You'll have to give us more details if want us to identify the problem for you. Your network setup would be a good starting place (export to a text file and then copy and paste into the forum).

also here is what happens when I do a test

              Actinic Mail Test completed successfully
              server: passed
              connection: passed
              sockets: passed
              communications: passed
              authorisation: passed
              message: -

Then a message in a box saying
"The network settings test was successful. If the email address you specified is correct, you should recieve a confirmation message shortly"

but I get nothing sent through to my email.

I can see two different mail errors in your error log.

                1. Is a connection refused error.

                You could try

                SMTPHOST smtp.demon.co.uk

with username and password unticked. (make sure they're unticked for 'localhost' as well).

                2. Is the missing prompt.fil message.

This file should be there, so you need to do whatever the action is for a complete refresh of everything. Try a full refresh first and if that doesn't work there are some instructions on the forum for deleting files and then doing the refresh.

I would probably sort out number 2. first until that message disappears and then work on 1.

                  Hi,

Ok checked and the file is up there, but I already did a purge and refresh this moring, tried the smtp thing and it didnt like smtp.demon.co.uk.

do you think I should upgrade to the latest 8.5.2, I wanted to hold off untill after christmas. If I do the update will it refresh any editing I have done on the mailform.pl file?

Is your email address (defined in Business Settings | Company Contact) the same domain as the website?

                      i.e. [something]@romtronics.co.uk

If it is some other domain then this could be the root of the problem. Some mail sending services do not like sending emails generates within a domain space "from" another domain.

the mail forms use the same mail server as everything else.

Emm. yes. 8.5.2. comes with a new set of perl scripts. I doubt if 8.5.2 fixes any mail problems.

The editing of mailform.pl sounds suspicious. If I were you I'd back up the edited version and re-instate the original to see if that fixes things.

I have tried this now and I still have the same problem. could I have may deleted something that I shouldnt have on the main layouts?
Is there anything in the main layouts that corresponds with sending out the mails?

                              Ryan,

Your mailform.pl script appears to be funcitoning correctly.
There are no errors when submitting through your contact us form
                              http://www.romtronics.co.uk/cgi-bin/mf000000.pl?ACTION=SHOWFORM

This would suggest that it is being stopped by your host instead of the mailform script. Worth checking with them.

Incidentally, may no be connected, but you have a few earlier mailform script errors in Actinic's error file
