Sorting of stock codes within permutations

Permutations do seem to be sortable (sort of) by alphabetic stock code, but they seem to sort in "batches" alphabetically. So I'll get a load listed a to z, then starting again at a to z, and again... makes finding things hard, particularly when the product I want, say FROO45618RE, is below an item like FROO45818REOS. Actinic defaults to the first it finds. Is there a work around for this?

Development have come back to saying this is one for the wihs-list, as it will have to be done in the code . So with your permission I'll add it to the wish-list.
