    Can't checkout in IE

Our site is now ready (enough) to go live:- http://www.on-one-shop.co.uk

Testing here, and testing by the folks at HSBC E-commerce in India show a bug which only occurs on IE...

Trying to checkout, after you select the Shipping Destination country, you get thrown back to the last catalogue page you were on.

Doesn't happen in Safari or Firefox on my mac.

Actinic Tech support are going to have a think about it over lunch and ring me back, but Michael had not heard of it before.

I've done a complete site refresh inc perl scripts etc.

    Anyone had this?? Help!

It's not one I've seen before but I wonder if it's connected to your smtp problem?

Eeh. look at that. Didn't know that was there :-)

SMTP problems were related to me being dumb.

      our company is called on-one

      our webhosts are oneandone

and not onandone like I had been trying to write it as until 17:07 yesterday afternoon :-)

Dissapointing support from Actinic HQ on this issue, inspite of our support contract.

HSBC have turned our site live, people can buy unless they have IE (many of the great unwashed).

Thankfully we have another site still online, but I wonder what it takes to get them to either:-

        1) Call back when they said they would.
        2) Suggest a fix (I asked if they wanted a snapshot, etc...)...

If you can license a new site and try revert the checkout pages to factory standard and see if that works, i'd expect this is something to do with changes/adjustments made by you to be honest. There are 1000's of sites using actinic without this problem. You could also try the compare facility if you cannot license a new one.

That does not excuse support though for their performance though, if they are stumped you go to the back of the queue i guess.

Still nothing from support, and I've had my head up my arse working on other aspects of the site (mostly massaging data via One-Stop-Order-Processing to go into our accounts package, and quite successfully too :-)).

I'm surprised - this is an official actinic forum, and if someone had been on our forum (or any cycling forum) complaining about lack of support from us, we would have been all over them by now.

              Glad you like OSOP

This is almost certainly a problem with the changes you have made to your site, you should really be talking to your designer about this not Actinic.

You should also do something to get the site usuable until you can resolve the issue, you will be loosing sales ATM, if it was my site, I think that I'd take the front page down and put a link to the other working site, a bit drastic perhaps but the least would be to put up a message to say what to do if you have any problems. A lot of people use IE.

I think you need to put the basket/checkout buttons back into the site by the way the only way I could find to get back into your cart was to add another item into the basket.

The site is currently "hidden" with robots.txt, and we're not piping any traffic to it - our usual site is www.on-one.co.uk.

Our designer hasn't changed any checkout settings, and with it working fine in other browsers (Firefox, Safari etc), everyone is drawing blanks.

I'm a bit of a mac Nazi, but appreciate that far too many people use IE for us to go live with this bug.

Perl scripts have been refreshed, though as non were changed, it's a bit odd.

If anyone fancies having a look at it, I can get a snapshot sorted and discuss payment terms.

Basket contents etc is up the top of the page - by that picture of me riding on the big cliff above my house. There's an image that's not loading right from the CSS I think that you might not be able to see.

I'm kind of hoping it'll fix itself, but these things rarely do :-(

Backup, then try reverting layouts back to defaults one by one - starting with the checkout. Do a compare in the design library and you will see which ones have been changed. (Highlight Customised Layouts)

Eeh, that was odd. Clicked Highlight Customised Layouts, and it refreshed something (small child shouting in room, didn't notice what).

Anyhow. Nothings got a * next to it. Doing a refresh anyhow.

Well that didn't do anything :-(

On the bright side, whilst it was uploading I wandered onto uswitch.co.uk and saved £550 on my annual gas/electric bill (I was with npower).

We'll have a further dig later on. Thanks for your suggestions though.

Prove to yourself (and designer if applicable) that the software is fine within your hosting environment...

Pull out all your products and place them into a standard actinic theme (A NEW LICENSED SITE IF YOU HAVE BMS of course)

publish to a test site then try it out.

Once this proves that the site works on your hosting config you can confirm to your designer that something is pete tong and needs sorting.

You can then publish live using standard if you wish, then re-apply the design afterwards. At least you can get trading whilst they sort it.

Just an option....(ps look into the css, it could be that one element in your overall design requires either an IE hack or recoding)

After checking Highlight Customised Layouts you will need to open the tree for all the layouts to see which have an asterisk.
