Unable to select in 'Design View'

Hi all,

I have a weird problem, and I'm not sure if it's just because it's 1:21am and my brain isn't functioning, or I have some kind of problem.

I cannot select 'sections' in the design view.

For example, I can't select anything to amend the code in the 'Layout Code' area. The design view seems to be displaying as working, so I can select and change radio buttons, but the code does not change below for me to amend.

The only thing I thought it might be is having 'Design Changes' turned off in 'Access On This PC', but thats ok ...

I hope this makes sense -- any ideas guys?

Hi,

I would suggest trying this, go to 'Window | Restoe Initial View layout' and then try the layout code area, it should work fine.

Still unable to select anything in the design view.

Could this be a IE browser issue at all? I'm not suggesting I have any issues with IE, but I assume that Actinic uses IE to render the view.

Simon you not alone it happens to me on a regular basis

something that can efect it is code snippets or scripts calling externals sites prevent it from working aswell

Thanks for that Darren -- I had a JavaScript script running.

Disabling this allowed me to edit the 'Design Preview Page' - I guess I'll have to disable and enable as and when I edit.

There's a Condition available in the library IsNotPreviewMode that you could put such code within.

I'm not sure if this is quite the same problem, but it's driving me mad!

I'm part way through building a site, but now when I go to Design view I'm unable to click to select any part of the layout to edit. This had been working fine previously, and if I go back to an earlier snapshot everything is fine again.

In desperation I've tried reinstalling the OS and Designer but I'm still having the same problem.

Try selecting different bits of the Content Tree (e.g. a Brochure page) before going to the Design Tab. Perhaps one layout page is broken.

Probably one for Actinic support then, unless others have ideas. Get a Snapshot of the faulty site ready and contact them.

try this: create a new layout, totally blank, nothing but the 'innerlayout'. put a fragment in it. and try to click on the fragment in design mode.

if you cant then there is something seriously wrong. if you can then its some script or code interfering with the way actinic registers clicks on the designer window.

Thanks for your input Gabriel, I've tried that and I am able to edit the fragment.

Any pointers for where I should start looking for the problem?
