    POP3 Not working

    Hi,
    I am trying to set-up the SMTP for Ver.8 using the 1and1

    the smtp for 1and1 is: auth.1and1.co.uk

    and I put my id and password.

    howerver I am keep getting the message:
    Failed to communicate with the SMTP server.

    Possible Cause:
    1. Network transmission problems.
    2. Could have Changed the SMTP Server settings, but not Uploaded after that.

    Recommendation:
    1. Retry
    2. Upload the Site First, if you have changed the SMTP Server Settings.

    Resolution:
    If retry fails, check your SMTP settings
    or contact your ISP.

    The error was:
    58316enq@web4save.comUnable to connect to the mail socket (Connection refused

    Command: send Filename:

    Hi Uncheck the Username and password required box in network settings. If it is unselected you may find more help

      I have tried this and still getting the same message.

      1and1 smtp is:

      auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk

        Strange. try using oneandone instead of 1and1 so it will read:

        auth.smtp.oneandone.co.uk

        Otherwise, I am not sure. You may want to post your network settings (without passwords) for anyone else to help.

          The message I am getting is as below:

          Actinic Mail Test completed successfully
          server: passed
          connection: failed
          sockets: passed
          communications: failed
          authorisation: failed
          message: Connection refused

            No it's not. It's auth.smtp.oneandone.co.uk - and as discussed many, many times on the forum, most 1 and 1 users find it best to use 'localhost' as the server, without username or password.

              The 1and1 web help says "auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk"

                I have read all of the above. I still get the error messages and am unable to proceed, regardless of what I do. While it is must be exasperating for those of you who have easily resolved this problem, please understand that even though you think you are right, your answers do not always work for everyone. Like me.

                    i had an issue with the smtp settings for 1and1, i was using the settings that were recommended on the forum. They worked for a month and then suddenly the smtp stopped working. I contacted 1and1 and they advised me to try mrvnet.kundenserver.de which works.
