Actinic Link for Quickbooks Pro 2008

    Hi
I've had to upgrade to Quickbooks 2008 and I've just got a nasty surprise as Link v1.4.1.0.1 HCSA does not seem to be compatible.
When I load exported orders in an IIF format into QB I get multiple messages 'You cannot record a blank transaction. Fill in the appropriate fields and try again.' and then a reference to file line number in error.
I have tested a file which loaded successfully in QB2006 and this has the same errors.
Has anyone else come across this ?
Does anyone know if a new version of Link is in the pipeline ?
I'm not looking forward to manually load 3 months of sales into the accounting packing in order to complete my VAT return so any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi there.

Also just upgraded to Pro 2008 from 2004 - also just found same error - also need to input 3 months invoices for VAT return.

I am getting exactly the same error - also tried an old file that worked on 2004 version.

    Would also like help!

      Hi Mark
Since placing the post I been investigating this further have identified the problem. QB have made significant changes to the IIF file format, add new fields and moving the location of some existing fields.
A new version of Link is going be required and I'm going to have to start manually keying all the transactions .
Can anyone tell us if a upgrade to link is planned and when its expected ?
      Thanks
      Rory

I have also asked for clarification on Quickbooks Link, so if an upgrade is due, it would be great if this could be included:

        http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=35343

(Basically need to be able to import new customer accounts - addresses, phone numbers etc, rather than having to put this in manually before any orders will be reconciled)

Personally, didn't upgrade to Quickbooks 2008, as there are a few features that are not working quite right yet. In fact multi-currency has been ditched completely apparently, which is a core part of our business.

So any updates to Quickbooks Link really need to be backwards compatible with older versions of Quickbooks.

          Hi Rory,

Thanks for registering an email query.

Yes, there will be a new version of link for QB in future but I am afraid there is not an estimated time frame on this yet.

Actinic only get the new version at the same time that you guys get to see it, so there is always a delay on these things. It can seem like they are very slow and behind the times, but that is not the case on this sort of thing. The Sage users have just been through a similar problem.

Anyone using the link should certainly hold back for the next couple of months.

We also just purchased 2008 Premier last Thursday but only spotted this thread over the weekend. Just in case I phone support yesterday and pointed them to this thread but was advised that the current version of Link is fine and will work. Guess what, I've just got exactly the same error as Rory. Before making the purchase of Quickbooks, I checked the Actinic site where it states that:

              Accounts software compatability:
              - Sage Line 50 Version 6 (and higher) Accountant, Accountant Plus and Financial Controller OR
              - QuickBooks 2002 / QuickBooks 2001 Pro, Premier and Accountant (and higher)

So I saw no reason to doubt that 2008 would not work. Now what do I do with £400 worth of Quickbooks? On the basis that support was so convinced that 2008 will work, I will call them again tomorrow.

I did phone support on the 6th Feb and they advised this time that QB2008 does not function with Actinic. They could not advise when it will be sorted but after a little pressure, they agreed to post here how long it will be before Link is updated. Clearly no news yet and they still have not updated their website to reflect the problem with QB2008. I have just returned QB as I found they have a 30 day satisfaction return policy. I may have waited for Actinic but I also found that QB couldn't offer two rather basic features that we use in our existing accounting software MYOB. Now I shall try Sage!

Actinic Link for Quickbooks Pro 2008

                  Dear All

Followed up with support and they informed me a new version of QB Link had just been released. Making a short story shorter, its a release for V9 and doesn't support QB 2008.
Have asked for news when a compatible version will be available. In the meantime, not looking forward to manually keying another quarters transactions in order to keep the VAT person happy :-(

                    Quickbooks 2008 Link

Hello I too want to upgrade to Quickbooks 2008, but can't without the link to Actinic.

My reason for wanting to upgrade is

I do a lot of copying and pasting and have a programable 4 button mouse which makes doing this much easier and faster. This mouse function used to work with both Actinic and Quickbooks when I used windows XP. Since upgrading to Vista they no longer work with Quickbooks 2006 or indeed the latest version of Actinic, V.9
This mouse buttons do work in Quickbooks 2008 and the search facility in Quickbooks 2008 is also much improved.

Would be great the Actinic link with Quickbooks were available for QB 2008 and also that the mouse function also worked, would save me a lot of time.

Quick Books Pro 04 and Actinic 9

We're still running an Actinic v7 site but want to upgrade to v9. One of the things that's put us off making the change is the concern that ActinicLink/Quick Books might not work.
We've got QB Pro 2004. I can see that QB 08 still might not work with Actinic 9. But does anyone know whether QB Pro 04 will be okay?
                      Thanks

                        Hi David,

Using the Actinic Link from QB to Actinic, you can use QB Pro 2004. On our help file, it mentions

Actinic Link is compatible with QuickBooks Pro 2000-2006 and Premier 2001-2006 and with Actinic Business, Actinic Business Plus, Actinic Developer (v7 or earlier) and Actinic Designer.
                        Kind Regards
