Stock Issue - With hidden products.

    Hi Guys n Gals,
I wonder if anyone knows the solution to this problem about stock levels in Actinic.

Our Actinic doesn't collate the stock correctly, we think because of the hidden products.

We have set the main product stock level 'Estimate Stock in hand' to the total of all the hidden products stock levels added together and also the details tab Maximum Quantity to the same.

Then in our hidden products under each main product the stock and details levels are set to the actual individual product stock level.

However, what happens when somebody orders is the maximum quantity field under the details tab, is staying at the total number originally set, even when 1 or more have already been ordered, and so therefore customers can now order one (or however many have already been ordered) more than we actually have in stock!

    What are we doing wrong!

    Thanks.

easy...Actinic doesn't update the "maximum qty orderable" field!

The only way to keep it automatically up to date would be to use Mole End's stock control mole which you can set to match this field to the stock level

I see, but isn't it a bit daft that they allow you to do stock control and then it only works on main products and not hidden one's?

You're bound to use hidden products if the products you use have sizes or colours etc.

And so on hidden products the maximum order quantity overwrites it and allows your customers to order however many they like!

ok..well firstly, I don't use any form of stock control on my main products
only on the hidden, associated ones.

But I do agree. The fact that Actinic itself doesn't update the max qty orderable field makes the field a bit pointless if you're using stock "monitoring" which is why I use the Stock Control Mole.

        which version are you using?
If your associated product max qtys are up to date and you're finding customers are overordering because of the setting in your MAIN product, you need to either upgrade to 8.5.2 (which apparently fixes this problem) or apply THIS FIX (for 8.5.1 HFUA..not sure about other versions) to make the main product obey the max qty orderable of the associated ones.

        Hope that made some sense!

          Ah, we have 8.5.1

Daft question maybe, but how do you update to 8.5.2?

          Thanks for your help.

            Hi

what you would have to do is suspend orders and after sometime download the pending orders, then make a back-up of your site by going to File | Snapshot | Export Site.

Once that is done download the latest actinic version and then run the setup.exe and select standard installtion and select the defaults and let that run through, once finished open actinic and it would do a site upgrade.

Lastly refresh your website, and then you should be good to go.
