    Image folder placement

    Hello all,

Having finally got around to purchasing Actinic Catalogue I have a quick question regarding the placement of image folders.

I originally toyed with the Actinic version 8 demo software which placed the "sites" folder in the root Actinic folder on the hard drive. In this folder (not site1) I placed an additional folder which contained my resized images. Of course now I've installed the latest version non of my links to to the images work as the new "sites folder" is installed in "My Documents".

Before I move my image folder and manually re-type each new image address, is there any reason why I shouldn't have a seperate folder set up in the "sites" folder for images, or possibly the "site1" folder just keep things from cluttered?

Any advice will be welcome and I'm sure this will be the first of many questions over the coming weeks/months/years!

    Hi, Nick

The best place for an images folder is within your Site folder. Actinic will always be able to find images there, even if you rename or relocate the site.

If you're feeling brave, you can open ActinicCatalog.mdb in Access and look in the Products table. There will be product and extended info image fields there. Look at a correctly placed image to see what should be there. You could run an Update query to alter all images with absolute paths.

    And backup first!

Thank you Norman for your advice.

"Backup", strange word you've brought up there, hangs around with "read instructions" doesn't it?

Hehe. You obviously know the value of backups. Unfortunately we often (about every 2 weeks) get someone posting that their disk/computer/office - died/was stolen/burnt and they've never backed anything up so how can they get their year or two's work back from the web.
