Their work isn't locked away, the idea is you get it done and then dissect it if you wish to learn how, hell you can even ask them to explain things. BUT if you see that spending coming up to 4 days on this is sensible, then i am fighting a losing battle even discussing this point, unless of course you wish to become a web designer. I concede to you on this point.

I agree with you, now we have the full picture it's clear you want to position fragments on section pages and also when column count is at 2 (added difficulty), not product pages, therefore it will not work as initially thought.

    Something like this:

    Fragment 1
    Product 1 Product 2
    Product 3
    Fragment 2
    Product 4 Product 5
    Product 6 Product 7
    Product 8 Product 9
    Fragment 3

The fragments will need to go accross the width of the page (two column's)
This is still possible and probably has a few avenues of attack, but for me it is beyond explanation in a forum, it would probably be quicker to do than type out and then answer questions on. My initial thought is you need to get cute with list layout settings if you insist on 2 wide layout, whereby colspan needs to be used when a particular variable is set.

It's quite a technical thing to do and i would strongly advise you to either reduce your column count to 1 or scrap the idea of fragments being positioned like you want them. You will need to get quite in depth and this (IMO) is one of those things where if you need to ask how to do then it is a long way away from you being able to do. This would get a seasoned developer thinking, let alone a pretty green person.

Hopefully I am wrong and can learn something in this area and it's a 5 minute job. Ideally you want full CSS layout with floated left section layouts that will go 2 wide (set to 50% width) and then a specific layout for fragments that goes one wide (set to 100% width). This is probably a better avenue of attack than list layout settings.

It's a challenge but in reality some lateral thinking is probably more apt.

I'd find another way of adding the same information. Modify the product layout to include a CV and then have this display under the required products as part of the product layout. No, it wont cover both columns but it might still achieve what you want.

Do you need to have an "add to cart" with the products? Could the Product info link to another page?

In other words, just as a simple idea:

        Fragment 1
Fragment 2 (Links to Product 1) Fragment 3 (Links to Product 2)
        Fragment 4

        etc

It may not be exactly what you require but a lot easier to achieve. Fragments 2 and 3 can be made to look almost identical to the Product layout.
