SSL settings - mine won't work

    Hi folks

I'm trying to configure SSL on my Actinic 8 site, but the settings I'm entering don't seem to work.

I asked my hosting provider (Verio) for the details of the Perl folder and they sent me the following info:-

    Path to Perl: /usr/local/bin/perl
    Perl Location: /usr/bin/perl
    /usr/share/man/man1/perl.1.gz

They also sent me all the Perl module locations.

I have put the path to perl from above in to the "path to the perl shell" box in Actinic's network settings on the SSL tab, but when I click the test button all the normal e-mail tests perform fine, but the I get the following 2 error messages:-

"There is a problem with the SSL certificate:- The host name in the certificate is invalid or does not match"

    and when I click OK:-

"The test script failed to execute on the web server. The error could be caused by several things. Check the path to the Perl shell, the CGI script extension, the path to CGI-BIN, and the CGI-BIN URL. This error could also occur if your web site is out of disk space or your web server is not configured to accept POSTs to CGI scripts."

Everything on the website works fine otherwise so I don't see that it can be CGI settings.

Can anybody offer any guidance, I'm not too hot on this aspect of Actinic.

    thanks

    Graham

first thing to do is a forum search on verio to see if anyone has already posted the correct settings - if they have - use them

if you can't find any info post your network settings - without passwords

While you are at it, check that the certificate is for www. yoursitename if you are using www addresses in your site.

Also check the cgi-bin location exists on the server ... connect via FTP and check it exists a level beneath the www root location ... if not create it and set the permissions to 755

Sorry for my ignorance on this, but how do I "check the certificate" - where is it?

Well when I use an FTP client to connect to the ftp server there is a folder called cgi-local right there in the first folder list that appears (just below the acatalog folder) but its numeric value is set to 711.

Click the 'secure' padlock and your browser should show an option to view the certificate.

              Hi guys

Thanks for the help, this is now resolved. The problem was indeed with the certificate. I didn't realise that I had to enter a special https url in the SSL settings screen for the catalogue and cgi urls's. My web host Verio supplied me with the url to our shared certificate and it now all works fine!

instead of https://www.ourdomain.co.uk etc etc the url needed to be https://www.verio.com/servername/ouraccount etc etc.

              Thanks again.
