    Home Page - Too Wide

I can see that this has been posted before, but I'm afraid I don't understand the answers that have been given - they have gone straight over my head!

I am creating a table within Dreamweaver 8 for my home page so that I have the layout and text links I want - I am then copying the code into a fragment within Actinic which is how I get my home page. I am not sure whether this means I am using CSS or not? Changing the CSS seems to be the most common solution to my problem.

My website layout looks fine when I display it on my screen but when I move to the laptop the left hand text links for my site are displayed and the main body of the page is underneath - very fetching!

I would be grateful for any help you could give me - This is the url if you want to have a look at what I mean http://fullofitawards.co.uk/acatalog/test/

I have just added images to my home page which I think is what caused the problem - I am sure I have looked at the site from a laptop to see what it looks like on a smaller screen. Have tried making the images smaller but does not seem to solve the problem.

My width for main area within Site Options is 580. Does this mean the maximum width for the whole site is 580 or the main section after the text links/section headings?

My Dreamweaver table is just under 580 width when I look at it in table layout mode. I have reduced it to approx. 572/3 but still had the same problem?

This is only happening in IE6 (fine in IE7 and Firefox) which suggests an element in the main innerlayout is too wide and forcing it to the bottom of the stack due to a float in the stylesheet.

The 580 setting is for the innerlayout ... the area where the products, section, cart etc is displayed.

Check your table code in DW also as it looks like it may be malformed ... there is a strange narrow <td> on the far right of the table
