    V9 Beta

    Hi
Since when do we need a license key to evaluate a BETA version?????
We have to pay to evaluate beta software for more than 30 days?????
Otherwise so far the install went OK. Watch this space....
    GRUMPY NOW.

You don't have to enter any keys to try out the software - you can evaluate it just the same as you could with previous versions.

So far so ok, but still not great.

A couple of issues i noticed within the first 10 minutes would be:

          Improved Error checking:

I imported a snapshot of a demo site i have been playing around with and when i run the check coding errors it gets about 75% of the way through the process and stops and reports nothing. Although the site functions fine (or appears to) how is this an improvement in error reporting by reporting nothing?

          Tax Inclusive Pricing:

A welcome addition for sure but surely an upgrade old excluding vat prices to new including vat prices would be equally welcome as currently when changing to the new Tax Inclusive Pricing method all the prices are now the old excluding vat price but now include the VAt which means manually going through and changing them all which i would imagine in a lot if not most cases will be a royal pain in the butt.

          Payment Options:

No Google Checkout, surely after all the years people have been requesting this to be an additional PSP Actinic would add the feature but yet again the countless requests appear to have fallen on deaf ears and all the customers who requirte the payment method have been ignored but we do have the addition of Actinic Payments CNP/MOT and also Actinic Payments Ecommerce, what are these as i don't see any mention of them anywhere in the docs.

          Prices:

A new box has appeared for entering the product cost price but what about a RRP box? This seems to be an oversight to me especially considering pretty much every other ecommerce software has the feature to display prices such as Our Price, RRP, You Save etc and it seems such a basic and easy addition can this not be added maybe as i'm sure most people would use such a feature as it will svae people creating custom variables. and also make adding the data clearer and easier.

            V9 "bugs"

Can't be as many bugs as in Vista? The upgrade of our site from V8 to V9 (as a try-out alongside V8) went 100%, even though it's been customised.
Vista has enough bugs that the computer crawls around on it's own.
How many new features do we all want? How long would it take to implement them?

The 'Improved Error Checking' is because we've re-written the design coding errors so they make sense to non-Martians. I think your issue is you have no coding errors, but the bar doesn't go all the way along. Please drop and email to v9.beta@actinic.co.uk and I'll look into this for you.
but surely an upgrade old excluding vat prices to new including vat prices would be equally welcome
There's a section in the help on how to do the conversions en masse using an Excel query. When we get a moment, we'll do an SQL query to do this - unless anyone feels like beating us to it...
                        No Google Checkout,
Unfortunately, we couldn't have gotten v9 out at all if we had done Google Checkout. That's the reality of the situation. It's in the plan, but a longer term plan. Sorry.
but we do have the addition of Actinic Payments CNP/MOT and also Actinic Payments Ecommerce, what are these as i don't see any mention of them anywhere in the docs.
There is a section in the help called 'Actinic Payments' you might find useful. It's not 100 % up to date, but it tells you everything you need.

A new box has appeared for entering the product cost price but what about a RRP box?
Hmm - good point. I reckon it would be very easy to use this as an RRP box. I'll see whether there is anything I can do to the default database.

Why i cant select PROTX or anyother method for offline ordering accept the cheque and similar payment methods i dont know.

If you use the virtual terminal in PROTX Paypal e.t.c then i would assume you might use these as your method of payment in the offline order? but alas actinic has ermm not given you the option to decide?
