The key will give you full access to the software so is only available upon purchase. Have you fully uninstalled the old v9 and installed again (use the latest version on the Actinic site). From memory when it installs there is a screen in 2 halves... the top to enter your purchased key and the bottom to evaluate ... it is the bottom part you need to be using.
If that does not resolve it could be something lingering in the registry.
you can still reinstal to keep the trial software working BUT snapshots will not import so its trickier to protect you site appart from you know how!
I've suggested that snapshots are put back to normal as it has introduced some other error and a better way of stopping extended trial users would be to disable orders as they are in designer
