    'Quote Me List' - No

A client has requested our studio to build an actinic site with the intent to sell online with 3-5 years, however for now, not to upset their dealer network, they want a site which allows the viewer to add items to the basket and instead of going to 'Checkout' the items in the basket are sent as a list to the part dept. as 'Get a Quote'.

As i/we are fairly new and therefore limited in the knowledge of Actinic is this possible, has anyone else done it and how?

You can certainly do that but it is not pretty as it will always look like a zero priced order.

You can set the prices to zero, change all the wording from buy to "quote me" etc but you still have the checkout procedure to navigate through!

How likely are thay to have more than one product in the basket. If they will only ever be asking for a quote for one thing at a time then switch off the order online functionality so that you just have an online catalogue. Then use the extended information functionality to create and enquiry form for each product. I am using this for a car phone site which I am currently working on. Client wants to sell online eventually but at first just as a lead generator with only the RFQ form.
      The site is:
      www.onthemovecommunications.co.uk
be warned that this is still a site under construction but you can see how it works in principle.

the site is for engine service spares so it might be 1 item, it might be 10...

This method would still involve using the checkout process but you could customise the wording on the checkout to make it obvious that the user is getting a quote as opposed to purchasing.

If you set up the payment type to be card details sent seperately (again you will need to customise some of the wording to make it clear to the user that they are getting a quote as opposed to purchasing). The advantage of using the checkout process is that you can set the site up to email a copy of the order (or in this case a quote) to the relevant department. This way you will also have a record of quotes in your orders tab including relevant contact information for the customer etc.

          Kind Regards

Then you need to use the cart. I think, like Jont says, the best way is just to use the standard shopping cart but with the price set to £0 for each product.
