Can some give me a quick guide for adding a layout to the library

My problem is,

i have various different side bars depending on what part of the website you are in.

I intend to put these bits of code in to a layout variable (the red purple coloured option). E.g SIDEBAR1 or SIDEBAR2 but am unsure how to create a new on. can someone give me a quick guide? It seems i keep overwritting layouts when i attempt it.

Open the library, switch to the layout tab, find the section you want them to appear in, right click > new

You can base it on an existing or create from blank.
