Manually updating html in Actinic 8

    Hi there,
I have just started using Actinic and I have a good working knowledge of html, css and JS.

Once I have built a page with a product on it I have been trying to manually edit the page sop it looks good. I have been having difficulty because I will save the page in:

Sites -> Site 1 -> PreviewHTML &/or SiteHTML then relaoding Actinic only to find that the code has reverted back to its old state.

How can I make these updates stay?

    Thanks

    Greg

    You can't.
You must change the layouts that are used by Actinic to generate the pages, not the other way around. You can edit the pages in Actinic from the Design View (and even from there in DW) or work on it directly in that view.

hrmmmm. Is there any earlier version of Actinic that would asllow me to do this? From what I understood in another post Actinic 7 would allow this....

No and you don't need to - v7 was also based on templates.

In the Design View code pane you can select to edit the layout in DW, then in DW save and you're are back in Actinic. There is a special add-on in DW for Actinic.

No. Actinic V8 builds pages from fragments of code held in the "Library", you can manipulate these in Design Tab.

In V7, these fragments were in many separate files that you had to edit with a text editor.

I suppose it does depend on whether Greg is using Client or Catalog/Business/Developer?? I assume he is not using Client...
