Images Directory and Multi-Site

Hi,

In v9 or v8 is it possible for me to have the images directory in a separate folder when they are uploaded ?

If this it possible can the images destination folder be at a different URL ?

Why ? 2 sites with the same products and the same images and it would be nice if I only had to store them once.

Thoughts, advice and comments welcomed.
