    Google Analytics no results!

    Hi All,
Has anyone tried Google Analytics on V9 and had success with it?
I set it up Google Analytics on a V9 test site last week. www.sto-it.ie. The setup is straight forward just enter your Google analytics number in the box provided and away you go. Wait for the numbers... the numbers have not arrived. Since I set it up I have had a flat line on my Google report page showing no site visits.
What have your experiences been like?
    Regards

Why would you be expecting traffic to a site consisting of filler text. Traffic comes from organic results and links your site has neither so analytics is IMO correct. The best way to test would be to upgrade a live site and then check he results. The problem with this would be any orders placed while testing will not be downloadable by v8 only v9 so you would end up with an order split which is not good.

The analytics will only be fully tested when v9 is fully released and people start to use it but looking at the code I can see nothing obviously wrong.

just remembered a post from last month by cd saying that the code can be taken from v9 and inserted into v8 so that will be another way of testing it if you need to. Personally I wil wait until the full release

I did take the code from V9 and insert it in V8, it needs a little work though, cant remember exactly what i needed to change but a little tweaking is required

I don't think you've entered your GA ID correctly. That's your account number, but for the actual number to use in the site, it usually has a '-1' or a '-2' on the end. Check the example code they give.

Can not see the wood from the trees

              Yes Chris you are right!
              The original code has -1.

For the benefit of others who may make the same mistake, this is how I got the Google analytics number incomplete:

I logged on to my Google analytics account.
Went to “Edit Account and Data Sharing Settings”
There it showed “Account ID: UA-3308783”

I mistakenly assumed that this was my full analytics number and entered it in the box provided by Actinic.

Thank you all for your input on this one, as someone famous once said “sometimes when you are too close you can not see the wood from the trees.”
              Regards
              Jim

Also Google Analytics will itself check to see that the tracking code has been correctly installed on the homepage of your site. Once you've created a new profile, the Tracking Status will display a warning, "Tracking status unknown," until the system detects the code.

By using the validation system provided it will inediately tell you if you have installed the code correctly - I incorrectly assumed the op had done this

                  Hi Mal,
The status indicator showed a green tick mark Recieving Data. Now i know this was because i had used the code on a V8 site, which was sending data to Google. We live and learn!
                  Regards,
