    How much usage each upload?

    Hi Folks

Had a good search but couldn't quite get the answer I need. I'm moving premises soon and it would appear I can get better broadband on mobile than on fixed line at the new premises. The only downside is the 'fair usage' limit especially if using the mole end plugin that constantly uploads and downloads for stock monitoring.

So I'm wondering what actually gets sent each time I upload, is it just sending the data thats changed or is it sending the entire file again, ie: the size of my current snapshot! Upload currently takes about 2 minutes! I'm sure it must be the former but need to be sure!

Or, is there a log that will tell me this info?

    Cheers in advance

Only what's changed. (Your snapshot never gets sent up online)

Beware that mobile downloads can be fast but uploads can be painfully slow - worth checking that out before taking the plunge. If you do find that you want to go the mobile route then consider getting a USB 3G HSPDA modem from Hutchinson 3 or Vodafone as it could be much cheaper than using a mobile phone and you probably won't have fair usage issues either.

      Thanks Duncan

I did do a test using my own phone as a modem earlier and it was almost as fast on upload and faster on download than my talktalk home connection.

But, for work I'd probably get this http://www.vodafonebusinessshop.co.u...odemStick.html . it does say unlimited although fair usage applies.

However, with my other half working for Vodafone business I dare say my account could be tweaked a little

      Cheers

the 3gb monthly limit is quite genorous, last year whilst overseas using 3g my usage was approx 500 mb per month.

this included developing 2 sites with uploads - but not regularly updating/downloading orders on a live site.
