Stock on choices

Has V9 sorted out a better way of stock controlling stock levels on a product with choices, like a shoes with various sizes?

You are probably confused with the facility to set things up easier....there has been no improvement to actual monitoring AFAIK. I'm sure bumpsy would be singing it from the roofs if there had been.

I did question about the new set up allowing stock control to be entered alongside everything else. Obviously, it doesn't. You still have to set them all up in the associated products that it 'creates' for you.

TBH, it's a bit of a half-feature, IMO. It's fine when you first set it up..except you then have to go back into each newly created product entering stock levels etc...but you try adding another choice to the equation AFTER the initial setup and you'll see why I'm only half-impressed by it

I'm glad it's not only me thinking that, seems to have lacked a bit of thought for 'end use' IMO. Hopefully we have missed something, at least 2 of us have anyway.

Has anyone come up with some sort of addon to help with stock control on choices? I'm currently working on a childrens clothing store with a store owner who is just getting to grips with actinic so don't want to blow his mind with associated products.

Also if this is this is the only route to go down (as I haven't done it before) does the choice get removed when the stock runs out?

The only way of monitoring stock on choices is by using associated products.

There is a solution in the v8 Advanced User Guide to either remove the choice from the list or show 'out of stock' against it. It will still work in v9.

Sorry, I forgot about a new feature in v9 to automatically hide the choices if they go out of stock - there's a tickbox on the layout tab of the component.
