    V9 & DW Integration

When installing V9, it asks about installing the DW interface. I obviously already have a version of this loaded for V8 work. Will one impact on the other? Has anything been changed on the V9 DW module to make it different to the V8 one? Anyone come across an issue with this so far, for the foreseeable future i need to be able to design in V8 and V9, does the module compliment both flavours?

I did STFF and RTFM, honest.

I also wondered about this and think it may be a potential problem.
DW extension V810 is installed with v8 and is removed and replaced with v900 with v9.

I'd also like confirmation that extension v900 will still work for v8.

hmmmm good question. I must admit that I did not upgrade the dw extension when I was playing with v9 so as you say it could cause a problem for people using multiple versions.

Hah! i don't even use the extension - despite being one of the major contributors to moaning about its integration in the early days!

I still prefer to either hand code or copy/paste as i don't find the layouts in DW that intuitive

I'm SO glad I'm not the only one!

Likewise, after adding the actinic basic integration components into the outer design with DW I only make modifications inside Actinic. (albeit sometimes C&P'd from DW)

I wonder - if collectively - we are telling Actinic something useful here.

i think we all had high expectations of the DW integration but after extensive useage we have all found it easier to revert to hand code

If Actinic added a good HTML editor into into the software then DW wouldn't be needed at all.

You get a better HTML editor within this and pretty much any forum software or cms for gods sake so why the Actinic editor is so limited is just yet another Actinic Triangle mystery to me, it's almost like they used Front Page as a base for the editor back in the 90's and have never bothered with it since. The only suprise to me about the HTML editor is that it doesn't feature an scrolling text marquee.

the limitations of the editor was a big point highlighted in beta testing of v8 if I remember correctly so its nothing new.

Hi - just to address the original point, the v9 integration will work with both v8 and v9. If you look in the Actinic menu there is a 'Use Version' item where you can specify the version of Actinic to register a design with.

There is an outstanding issue with the DW integration that it isn't adding the Google Analytics code into registered pages at the moment. This will be addressed in the first maintenance release, so for now you need to add the <actinic:variable name="GoogleAnalyticsMarkup" value="Google Analytics Tracking Code" /> tag just above the </body> tag manually on registered designs just for the next couple of weeks.
