    Lost Styling In Check Out

OK i have seen this before and searched the forum but alas i am not able to turn anythingup, i know its here but cant find it.

I did an upgrade on a site this weekend, and everything was fine well so i thought. The upgrade went without a hitch no errors reported no corrupt layouts.

the problem is that when you check out or go to the contact us page (basically anything through the cgi-bin) the styling is all lost.

I am hoping someone here can offer me some pointers or suggestions.

This is what i have done so far.

    Deleted everything off the server
    compacted DB
    restarted PC
set up a new domain and uploaded a live site - same problem

not sure what else to try

Have you set up a CGI-BIN in the new subfolder? It looks like it is pointing at the one at root level and not at test level ... unless that is how the server see it.

It did exactly the same on the live site aswell, i can see what you mean, although it does not make sense as the set up seems no different to any other test site? Perhaps i need to experiment with another cgi-bin in the test folder, but surely it would not find the scripts in new folder?

      Cheers

        Darren,

Looks like your missing a BASEHREF in the head area. This is what tells the cgi scripts where to reference the files, css and images when displaying the pages.

It could be something to do with the fact that you have some of your sites with www and some without.

Maybe if you pilfer code across them you lose stuff from time to time - just a idea!

with www is tends to be standard, people instinctively prefix URLs with www

              thanks Jo

I only really have one domain that does not use the www by default, but the others should all be www. i will take a look at these

the basehref was definately missing from the layouts though.

Some of the links in your signature in this forum are without www. You might want to change this as it gives www and non www external incoming links to your sites and will reduce relevance for SEO purposes

ooh thanks jo, bad habit that, sorry did not realise you ment my signature, so if i have a htaccess file redirect to www. will that make a difference and i have them set in google as preffered www. the only one that does not is the kitesrus one
