    Updating Product Prices

I am trying to update product prices using a csv file import but it keeps failing. The error file reads as follows- [Line 2: Incompatible information in field 1 ("Price"). Expected Unknown, but got "84".] all the lines are the same.
The csv file has two columns with the headings "Product Reference" and "Price" all prices are in the lowest denomination. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I've got about 2500 existing product to update prices on.

I would start again with a new csv file it looks as though you have got something in other fields that is being seen, such as blanks.

ALso open the import file in notepad or similar and see if you have too many fields on each line.

The first column would normally be setup to be the Product Reference followed by the Price - the error mentions Price as being in the first field.

Post a couple of lines or so of your import file.

I think there may be two problems here.

there may be a problem with Price, but I think you may have missing fields at the end of your lines. The way round this is to open the CSV and add another column at the end called, for the sake of arguement, "FINAL_COLUMN", and populate it with "1" all the way down.

The problem is that there will be no blank fields after your last populated field on any particular line (if that makes sense). So, by populating something at the end (but not using it to import) you can force blank fields that Actinic import is expecting.

As with everything, back up before you try this.

              regards

What separator are you using between the fields, also have you go autogenerate product references on, it so it will ignore the price field.

This should work for you, but if you want to import the prices quickly while you work out what is wrong with your current file, use the free trial on our profit and pricing tool to get the prices in

                    http://www.mole-end.biz/acatalog/Profit_and_Price.html

Then, actually you could export the prices from this program and you would have a correctly formatted file (unless of course you have autogenerate product references set and then you will need to change this before importing)
