    Working with Hidden products

    Hi

We display our products in two ways, by manufacturer/brand and product type.

    For example:

brand = Weleda - dry shampoo, normal shampoo, oily shampoo

type = Shampoos - weleda dry shampoo, weleda normal shampoo, weleda oily shampoo

However, under the category shampoo, the list of products is getting very long, and not too friendly on the user..

Under the category shampoo, we would like to create a single product called 'weleda shampoo', with three different choices, but to continue to display three individual shampoos under the brand area called 'weleda'.

I created the individual products under weleda brand, and then created a new product called 'weleda shampoo' under the section called shampoo.

The problem is that I used duplicate product function to put the individual products into the new weleda shampoo product, but as they are duplicate products, Actinic will not let me hide them on the web. The only way I can hide them is to hide them on the original product level (in the brand area), which is not helpful at all.

Is there a way to get around this problem, i.e. the duplicate products are hidden, while the master product is not, bearing in mind that we still want to be able to use the stock monitiring function?

    Many thanks

Read up on permutations, sounds like you can associate the products via the fill tab on a component and still retain your stock control whilst also presenting only one product with 3 choices.

Thanks, but you don't seem to be able to associate a duplicaqte copy of a product, as it gives you no option to include it.

      Any suggestions?

Unless I am misunderstanding things, why would you try and use a duplicate here, surely common sense says just link to the actual product?
