    Partial Site Design

    Hi Guys,

I'm having a problem with deploying a partial site design to my customer.
    We have 4 External Layouts

(Mens, Womens, Skate, Decimal) for 4 different sections on www.decimalstore.com.

I've added some tracking code to each of the layouts in designer, and just select the 4 layouts in "Select layouts to export". The rest of the options i leave blank (so no selectors, choices etc).

It creates a nice small file to copy over to my customers catalog client to import.

I import and upload. The code is no-where to be seen on the website.
Is there something wrong with the method I'm using here, or is something else going on?

    any help would be appreciated,

    James

Best look for them in the Library on the client system. That way you'll know if they got imported or not.

If they have different names to existing layouts then you'll have to add them to the "Layouts Offered by this Selector" list in the relevant Selector (via the Values tab).

      Layouts

      Norman,

thanks for the reply, the layouts i'm trying to deploy already exist on the clients system. I'm just trying to update them with the new javascript i've added for google analytics.

I seem to recall having problems with this before, and from memory i think i exported his site, and then deployed a site snapshot on his machine and reimported -> bit of a pain in the arse! Just want to update these 4 layouts.

As they are all external html files, can i just edit the files directly and then get him to overwrite the ones that are in the site folder??

      regards

      James

        Hi, James

I've used Design / Deploy Partial Site Design hundreds of times and they always work. However if you're using early versions of V8, it may be a good idea to run the import twice (one after the other). Then close and restart Actinic and see if they're there.

Your other suggestion wouold work fine if they're just separate files.

If they're layout items, send each layout as a .txt file and ask the user to copy / paste them into the existing layout. Best get them to do this via Design / Library / Layouts / <Section Name> / <Layout Name>

As far as I remember they did not work correctly until 8.5.2
