Importing V8 snapshot causes fatal error

Importing V8 snapshot into evaluation copy of V9 (latest/final version).

    Receive one of 2 errors.

Error type 1 - dialog box labelled "Site Restore" opens which just contains an error symbol (red circle with white cross without any descriptive text).
Clicking OK generates "Send error message" dialog boxes, and then closes Actinic down.

    Error type 2 -

"Operation Opening the [DesignObjects] table sorted by [nID]
    Too few parameters. Expected 1"

dmp file produced, and then Actinic crashes.
    Refuses to open again!

Have tried both with importing just design and importing full site, same result.

Have registered a support ticket, but don't expect to hear anything until next week, being B Hol and all.

I note that some of you have had a *.dmp producing error importing into 8.5, but not seen anyone reporting this for V9 yet.

    Anyone else had anything similar?

My V9 is still on evaluation whilst I await my key, but is the final release version

    An update on the above:

Reinstalling V9, but WITHOUT the Dreamweaver extension, hasn't given me the same problem so far, so maybe its DW related!
As I don't really use DW at the moment, hopefully this has solved my problem.

      Hi Mick

I don't think this would have been related to the DW extension. Often a snapshot that fails will work again after a restart, or a re-install. Anyway - let's see what support say. They will be able to get the *.dmp files checked out and that will help show what caused the crash.

        Thanks for the reply Chris.
I have emailed snapshot and dmp to support.

The only other thing I did do on the successfull reinstall (third attempt), apart from excluding the Dreamweaver installation, was to make a couple small changes to the default shop first, rather than import the V8 snapshot straight after install.

I simply selected a different theme for the default shop, did a preview, and exited.
Then re-entered, and imported the V8 snapshot.

I seem to remember a similar sitaution when first installing V8, whereby it didn't like handling an import on the very first use, but behaved fine once you'd exited and re-entered.

Maybe this is totally unrelated - who knows!

I shall wait and see if support can extract anything useful from the dmp file.

Was the site heavily customised Martin?

            Hi Daren

Yes, it was a cleanlayout, external css, and fairly well customised.
A lot of that was just stripping out most of the leftover tables, aiming for a pure css design

Did this customisation contain much Java?

The reason I ask is that due to the natural hierachy of such scriptings, this can sometimes cause Actinic to blow a fuse...and take many hours to realise

If no js then have you tried a clean snapshot import to see if it is a dodgy installation before you uninstall and play that game?

May be wide of the mark mate just spit balling.

                No javascript.

Well I have it working now (see above) - just curious to know what it didn't like originally.
If you see my reply to Chris, there were two things I did third time around - elected not to install the DW extension (I don't use it anyway), and changed a theme in the default, before exiting and re-entering, and THEN importing the snapshot. Maybe it likes to be 'warmed up' before trying to import straight after install. Who knows!

I'm not gonna try and break it again, just for the crack, but I'll let you know if support find anything from the files I sent.
