Disabling countries + a shipping error

Hi folks,

I've searched the forums here and read the manual and help files, but I've been unable to find a satisfactory answer to the following question.

Question.

I'm considering altering the master list of locations within Actinic, held in 'Settings | Locations', to only show the UK for the time being. However the help files state "You should only delete countries, states or provinces if you are sure you will never need them, or if there is a name change".

I can't be certain that I'm not going to the need them again in the future, so is there a workaround to disable but avoid loosing all this data?



For the record I'm trying to build a shop for our business, but as we're small and I have many roles, it's not often I find time to sit down and work with Actinic, hence I may be a newbie for several months!

Hi Nick

You can restrict the countries you ship to in Business Settings - Shipping & Handling tab.

Configure by zone/class.

Tick - If shipping band not defined, do not allow.

Set up a shipping Zone for the UK, and add the UK as its only member.

That way, at the checkout, customers will only be able to select the UK as a shipping destination

Best not to mess with the locations table.

Thanks Martin,

I also removed the EU TAX zones as this seemed the logical course of action, plus it appears a simple enough process to replace them if required.

I've also found many threads about the error above, so I'll edit the post and work through the answers in the afore mentioned threads.
