    Actinic Link - Sage Line 50 2008

    Greetings

I was wondering firstly if anyone else is having issues importing orders from Actinic Link into Sage Line 50 2008. I have noticed in the forum that this issue was picked up already in November but has never been resolved properly as the new updates are still not working.

The current status with the Actinic Link Development now is that they have no time scale on the issue but they have found a bug in the software.

After 5 Sage Database repairs i have decided to turn to the community to see if anyone else in the forum has found software that can import orders from Actinic into Sage. If so please let me know, manually typing all the orders is an absolute nightmare.

Then for anyone else having an issue with importing sales orders from Actinic to Sage Line 50 2008 there is a bug in the system and if you announce it maybe we can put some pressure to get this sorted.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

Actinic V8 to Sage 50 2008 Accounts Pro

I am using Actinic Link to the latest Sage 50 Accounts Professional 2008 with no problems, now that I have set up Actinic Link correctly, except for one strange problem:

With my old Sage V8 and Actinic V7, if a new customer was automatically created on Sage because they had typed their name differently, for example, and I wanted to move the new order to their original account, I just needed to change the Customer Ref on the Order in SOP to the old one. The prices, VAT, discounts and total stayed the same.

Now, however, when I change the Customer Ref, the order changes, with all products changing to standard rate VAT even if they are zero rated in the products file and on Actinic, and the product discounts disappear. I have to manually correct the VAT rate for each product, and manually enter discounts, which is very time consuming.

Has anybody else had this problem? I don't know whether it is an Actinic problem, a Sage problem or an Actinic Link problem.

      Hi Sarah,

I've had a go at this with Sage 2008 and I can't reproduce the problem. I created an order in Actinic that had a zero rated product and one that had the standard 17.5% on it and transferred it to Sage. I then opened the Sales Order and changed the account that it was assigned to and nothing in the order changed. I had previously been getting a problem until I discovered that the account I was changing it to had a discount set on it under the 'Defaults' tab but once I took that off it worked correctly. We've also not had any other reports of this happening.

        No discounts set

Hello Tracey. Thank you for looking at this for me.

I do not have any customer discounts set in the Customer file on Sage.

Looks like I need to speak to Sage.

Odd that nobody else seems to have the same problem, and I didn't have the problem myself with Version 7 of Actinic and Sage Line 50 V8. I upgraded simultaneously to Version 8 and Sage 50 2008, so knowing which is causing the problem is not clear. My settings on the new Sage and on the Actinic Link are the same as before.

It is obviously quite frustating that the order processing of such orders is taking much longer now even though all software, and computers, have been upgraded, and at some expense.

          Update

Just to let everyone know if they have been watching this space. We have managed to get this partially resolved to a point of it actually import with the right amounts, discounts working, vat etc..

The first issue was that the SDO hot fix released by Sage was not compatible with Server 2003. This meant that the terminals were running a different copy of Sage to the server, which in turn meant that the database was corrupting on every import.

On top of that the Hot fixes from either Actinic or Sage, we can't determine which were not compatible in the sense of importing nominal codes in the right way which was damaging the sales orders. That has been addressed.

So far so good now. If anyone else is having issues with the Link To Sage i would advise to look at your Sage versions as the first port of call. I wouldn't do that the conventional way either as our systems were all the same according to Help/About. Below is a post from a Sage Specialist user that was very helpful:

Just a thought, and you've probably checked this anyway, and installing the Hot Fix ought to be enough, but if you search the relevant drives for the file sg50SdoEngine140.dll, do you find more than one copy? If so it might be interesting to compare the date / time stamps of the various files, and to check the version numbers ([RightClick] => Properties => Version).
          Hope this helps...
