    DW Extension

I have V9 and 8 running on the same PC - when installing I upgraded the DW extension to the V9 version as CD said it was compatable with V8.

I have just tried to register a design with a V8 site but when the extension is used it fires up V9 and overwrites whatever site is active at the time. The V8 site remains unchanged - this is a pain in the butt as it now means that I cannot register any new designs for current V8 sites.

    Anyone else tried yet??

You'll have to run the v8 mxp again and install the older v8 extension when using v8 sites and then run the respective v9 one for v9 sites. You'll find the v8 one here:
    C:\Program Files\Actinic v8\Extensions\Dreamweaver\Actinic_Assistant

Doooh - there is a new option at the bottom of the extension drop down that is set at V9 default - just need to change it to V8

Just thought - the drop down selector could be a bit of a nightmare when working on multiple sites. It would be better if it detected which version was open at the time and used that - I can see a few trashed sites coming up

is it not feasible that some people could be working with both V8 and V9 open at the same time though?

Mal - if v8 is open and you register does it launch v9 and try to add it to that?

                          Yep thats exactly what happens.

Say you have a V8 site you are working on and you want to register a design but the extension is set to V9 then when you click register design it will fire up V9 and register the design with whatever site you have active at the time. Its a real pain as you then have to go into the site with the wrong design now registered and fix it which as you know can be in itself a problem.

It launches the correct version so long as you remember to select which version you wishto use prior to registering. DW remembers the selection.

I'm not sure what else Actinic could do though unless they have a separate toolbar icon in DW and allow the extensions to coexist.

That it does but Im useless at remembering and usually Im working on multiple sites in 7/8 and 9 so Im just going to have to be more carefull in future - as you say its going to be difficult for Actinic to work it out if I dont even know what im doing half the time
