    Attributes and stock levels Conundrum

    Hi,

I've got to design a site which is for bikinis, therefore needs to give the option of different bra sizes for each product. I was going to do this using attributes for the different sizes.

However, I have a problem in that the customer wants to use the stock levels function - I can't get my head around how I'm going to do this neatly - without having to have one product per bra size for each bikini style. Which is going to look messy and the customer will not be happy with this. Obviously however, the stock for a 34C will differ from a 38F for example. I wanted to give the size options in a drop down, not by listing every single size seperately as a product.

Has anyone come accross a similar problem or any ideas how to get around this? Am I missing something blatently obvious??

    Many thanks, CJ

I think i've seen software that automatically creates a page per product, and possibly per attribute. I remember looking for this same solution, but ive not got around to it. Ideally, i wouldnt want to spend extra money for a feature like this.
A very unlclean way to do it would be to create site invisible modifiable duplicates of each bra, modifying the available size. Then, when an order comes through on the generic bra, you reassign the item to the seemingly invisible duplicate. Does that make sense??!!

or it might bee possible to make it bounce to the right bra size when you select the size in the initial product, still using duplicates of course...

        Clare,
Study the inbuilt Actinic Help (and, indeed, the examples in the catalog in a new, blank store) for 'associated products' and 'permutations' as this is what you are going to need to use to manage the individual sizes whilst offering them all from a single main product.

The advanced user guide on the Actinic website also has some code for showing the stock level on the component choices as well, so if you want stock on the components and to show that stock level or available message, then this will help you in achieving that goal.
