I am using a virtual dedicated godaddy server. I am running into constant problems with just "testing". I wasnt getting anywhere with it until I entered in the settings above. The only problem is Im getting a error message saying the following:

THE SERVER NAME OR ADDRESS COULD NOT BE RESOLVED.
The test script failed to execute on the web server. The error could be caused by several things. Check the path to the Perl shell, the CGI script extension, the path to CGI-BIN, and the CGI-BIN URL. This error could also occur if your web site is out of disk space or your web server is not configured to accept POSTs to CGI scripts.

I entered the settings exactly like above, except replaced the ftp settings and URLs with my owen address. You wouldnt happen to know what my problem might be? I contacted GODADDY and they arent helping my out one bit.

nope didnt work. Im starting to get fustrated with this program. I havent gone anywhere with it. I spent over 50 hrs building the web store and now all of that is going to waste. I have never had this many problems before.

Is there a way I can manually upload my site to my server? I am using Actinic 8.5.2.1

        I take it you've read this: http://nedp.net/support/articles/Vid...ermissions.asp ??

You can't blame Actinic for the shortcomings of a cheap host.

I've never known Go Daddy to work, 2nd worst host, just behind Fasthosts IMO.

              GODADDY Server HELP PLEASE!!!
              Eric,

You've arrived here SHOUTING, double-posting and blaming Actinic when it's the person who made the choice of unhelpful, incompatible web-host that you should be beating up on.

Look to the consensus of informed opinion above (just check their post counts) and look for a compatible host.

i didnt mean to put the actinic program down. I love the features of the program compaired to any other ecommerce software. I am the web administrator and web designer for a cell phone company and I told them I would have the website up and running a week ago. My deadline is on the 12th because they have 30000 flyers being sent out. I totally agree with everyone about the godaddy servers. I have called them plenty of times trying to get some answers from them and all they do is tell me I have to upgrade the service. I have the company paying $59.99 a month and still havent got any results. What servers do you recommend? I am definately ready to switch over to a different company. I thought of using SupaNames but they dont have a US number. I really appreciate the quick response and comments I get from you guys, Thank you!

Get a minimum of linux Business hosting. 1 and 1 windows servers are not Actinic friendly, and anything below Business on linux does not give the Perl support that is required.

                          1and1 business

Yep, we use linux business 1and1

It works well, dedicated SSL is cheap

and they have nice scalable options if you need to upgrade (unlike fasthosts)

I use godaddy for other personal sites and online CMS stuff, for that it works well.

once again I want to thank everyone for the helpful information. I am still running into the same problems with the new 1and1 hosting as I did with the godaddy server. On my 1and1 hosting, I have the business plan and try using the following info:

                            HTTPPROXYMODE 0
                            HTTPPROXYADDRESS

                            HTTPPROXYPASSWORD
                            FTPPROXYMODE 0

I am trying to test the connection and I keep getting an error message:

An error occurred in the secure chanel support

followed by another error message that says:

does anyone know why it keeps giving me this error message? I recieved the same message with my godaddy server

I don't know if it matters but i think
SSLPATHTOCGIBIN: /shop/cgi-bin/ should be SSLPATHTOCGIBIN: /cgi-bin/

and SSLCGIBINURL should just be domain/cgi-bin/

presumably you have dedicated ssl yes?
