Any sign of an RRP field being added to V9?

When V9 was in BETA Chris mentioned that there was a chance a product RRP field could be added to the standard product details similar to how the cost price was in V9 and i was just wondering what the hope of this was before i go through 2500+ products adding this info as a custom variable?

Sorry Adrian - this didn't get added so code such as http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=36581 is your best bet for the time being.

D'oh, had a funny feeling that would be the case and typing out 2500+ RRP prices would be required instead of simply importing them all from my spreadsheets.

Is there no way from a flat file spreadsheet with product reference, short description, cost, price and RRP that i can import the RRP data i have in the spreadsheet in to the custom variable i've set up?

        Not with flat file import.

Delve into the murky waters of hierarchicals or direct database input instead.

I've gone with a copy and paste straight in to the UserDefinedProperties table in the database method

I just had to work out the variable number being used by my RRP field in the database and then create a spreadsheet, copy > paste and cross my fingers

Seems to be working ok so far with my 30 or so test products but just another time consuming exercise that would be a million times easier to do if the RRP was added to the product data within actinic. Not only the initial importing but also maintaining the products RRP would be easier all from one spreadsheat when manufacturers change the RRP.

The omission of the RRP field was a bad one IMO. It's a really bad mistake, i have not read one post regarding Cost Price but many on RRP. I'd love to understand the thought process. Maybe it's me who is out of tune with what people want - who knows.

At the very least Cost Price should have been given a more global name. It's stupid little things like this that frustrate the hell out of me. Oversight, out of tune, a mistake, plain deaf - whatever it was that made this decision, it needs addressing. There is a large emphasis on the requirment for RRP nowadays, i get asked to add it on at least 50% of builds now.

I have actually tried using the cost price field as the RRP but I can't find a variable to add the data to any pages and as I can't see any new reports or changes in any of the previous reports to use the cost price field to calculate profit or anything I'm not entirely sure what use it actually has.

This was raised before and IIRC Chris D mentioned that the variable would be 'exposed' for use in a maintenance release. At the moment it is only saved as part of the order detail and can oly be used as part of a custom made report.

So we have a field that many did not seem to ask for and it can only be used if you have a custom report built - please tell me this is a wind up.

Unfortunately not Lee, we have a cost price field that i've not seen a single request for which we can pretty much do nothing with and yet no RRP field that there has been many, many requests for and near countless posts in the forums from users including myself regarding how best to create a custom variable to create a basic and common place ecommerce feature to allow a web site to display a products RRP.

I think Chris D did say it was an error and should have been exposed as a variable for use layouts.

I would of liked something like this also!

Thing is cost price is like the easiest thing to add anyway.. I already had it in my v8. variable called - stock cost. I also had another one below it called Supplier.

Alot of these seem to be easy routes taken.

I think we should make a mod list that everyone can add to. Then we can all contribute to making them happen. mods/hacks etc.
