three column home page with mini cart

Id like to make my home page three columns, its probably really simple, but i cant find this option anywhere?

also, id like a mini cart on the eventual right column, ideally like the ajax one on play.com, where the customer doesn't even have to refresh.

Choose a theme that comes with 3 columns as standard already.
